My bike has failed a noise test at the trackday , how can I reduce the noise to pass?

Looking for expert motor cycle tips, help and knowledge

If you have a race type silencer fitted and you are say 2-3 dB over , then fitting a noise reduction insert is the answer. Universal types are available. If you have the insert fitted and you are still over then you will probably need either your silencer repacking with noise absorbtion material .Or fitting a LONGER silencer altogether may be required. Remember race silencers need maintenance the same as your engine! If the Trackday has a 98dB limit you will struggle to get a race silencer thru the test .Modern 600 bikes with stock systems are over 100dB as measured static ! , one way to check is to have a look at the VIN plate on the bike and it will tell u what noise level the model of bike was tested at.
